  • What to do when entering and leaving a dojo,First you bow to the kamidana (shrine), then you bow to the Sensie (instructor) or Dojo Cho (chief Intructor).When bowing to Sensie or Dojo Cho you say one of the following, Ohayo Gozaimasu (good morning), Konnichiwa (hello), or Konbanwa (good evening). When leaving, say arigato gozaimashita (thank you).
  • What to do when you train with with a partner,you will first bow to each other and say onegai shimasu. After you finish practicing, bow to each other and say arigato gozai mashita. You must keep a distance of six feet from each other when you bow. This is the length of a bo staff. This serves as a safety zone.
  • Be aware of your surroundings while moving arround the dojo. 
  • Stepping over weapons, training tools, and notes of other students is prohibited!
  • When you thank your Sensie or Senpai (senior students) , say ARIGATO GOZAI MASHITA.
